Raising the Statue of Jesus Christ in Maalula – Damascus

The inauguration of the memorial statue of Jesus Christ in Maalula was in the last week of September. The statue is 3 m high in St. Thecla monastery.

It was sculptured by the famous Russian "Alexander Rokafishenkov".

The traditions still live till the present day and the cooperation continues between the two peoples and countries, the Russian and the Syrian. This sculpt is the second work he has dedicated to the Holy Land in Syria, after the Tell Kokab statue of St. Paul (Damascus countryside).

It is now being planned to erect the 30-m Statue of Jesus Christ in Cherubim convent in Seidnaya.
